Winter Skincare: Beating Dry, Cold-Weather Skin
· 4 min read

If your skin feels tight, looks dull, or flakes through the colder months, you are not imagining it. Cold air holds less moisture, wind is harsh, and indoor heating dries out the air inside. Living through a Northern Ontario winter, we know the feeling well. A few simple changes make a real difference.
Switch to a richer moisturizer
Your lightweight summer lotion often is not enough once the temperature drops. A richer cream helps trap moisture and protect against the elements. HydraBalm was made with exactly this in mind, and is a winter favourite for dry, tight skin.
Add a hydrating layer
Before you moisturize, give your skin extra water to hold onto. A hydrating serum like HydraGlow, or a refreshing mist like Ocean Mist, adds moisture that your cream can then seal in. A few drops of a nourishing face oil, such as Age Well, can add comfort on the driest days.
Be gentle with cleansing and exfoliating
Hot water and harsh cleansers strip the skin right when it needs protection most. Use lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser, and ease off strong exfoliants if your skin is feeling raw. The goal in winter is to support your barrier, not challenge it.
Do not skip SPF
Sun protection is not just a summer habit. Snow reflects light and UV reaches you even on grey days, so keep applying a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher through winter too.
Help your environment
Skincare is only part of the picture. A humidifier adds moisture back into dry indoor air, and simply drinking enough water supports your skin from the inside. Small habits add up, especially in the months when your skin needs the most help.
